Our Work

United is the Way to Change Lives

What We Do

Founded in 1951, United Way of Odessa’s mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community to advance the common good. At our core, United Way of Odessa is about service—connecting people and resources to create lasting change.

We are recognized as a leader in addressing community needs, with a focus on impact in Healthy Community, Youth Opportunity, and Financial Security for every Ector County resident. Through partnerships with local programs, we support counseling and family training, early childhood education with state-approved curriculum, and vital services for our homeless and elderly neighbors—helping them remain resilient and independent in their homes.

United Way of Odessa’s reach extends across 10 counties and 43 zip codes, supporting 18 funded programs that transform both individual lives and entire neighborhoods. By investing in these initiatives, we help ensure our community has the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to thrive.

Each year, hundreds of volunteers—including our Board of Directors, students, and community leaders—evaluate community needs identified through surveys and recommend funding for programs that align with our Community Impact Fund priorities. This process ensures resources are directed where they will make the greatest difference.

Beyond funding, we work with agencies to identify overlapping needs, reduce duplication of services, and strengthen collaboration. Through Venture Grants, in-kind resources, and donor connections, we provide critical support to help agencies grow and maximize their impact.

Together, we are committed to building a stronger, healthier, and more resilient community for all.
